 Always one of the most often requested and appreciated elements of many customers is rockwork, that is rock walls and other rock features installed into the landscape.
From retaining walls to simple decorative elements, rockwork installation/construction and rockwork design can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your landscape.
Some may think that we are just talking about stacking rocks - sounds simple, rockwork installation/construction and rockwork design … but actually stacking a bunch of rocks or just throwing a few decorative boulders around is hard work and an art.
Perhaps that’s why it’s called rockwork, but we love it!
Fortunately, we employ several landscapers that are artists with rockwork installation/construction and rockwork design in East Texas landscapes.
What do they do that is so special? Well, the pictures will speak loads about their rockwork landscaping skills but I’ll explain further. Each stone and boulder has its best side, color, angle and more, all mixed together.
Rockwork landscaping is like a jigsaw puzzle and painting combined.

Like a painting, each piece brings new color and texture to a rockwork landscape so that the whole has to be considered.
And the answer is yes, we have torn down a few rock works including rock walls because we were not happy with the overall appearance and starting over was the best option.
Rockwork installation/construction and rockwork design must be functional and supportive in design if needed, but also pleasing to the eye.
Rockwork installation/construction and rockwork design is actually an ancient art passed down through families until a few generations ago.
 Fortunately, the art was saved and is still available. Rockwork was once so important that it was actually a trade, and that romanticism for the past from places like the American Northeast or Europe can translate beautifully into your East Texas landscape.
East Texas itself does have a few rocks here and there, but most of the material for East Texas rockwork landscaping is shipped into the area for your landscaping needs from all around the country.
While these stones may not be native, they do fit into your East Texas landscape beautifully adding detail and structure in an environmentally friendly way.

Rockwork landscaping is also long-lived; no termites and such bother these guys in your East Texas landscape and to be honest, over the years rockwork landscaping just looks better with age.
